The goal of the Hispanic Heritage Society (staffed entirely by volunteers) is to preserve the musical traditions of all the hispanic countries, as well as the different forms of hispanic artistic expressions. We accomplish this in part by training talented individuals and artistic groups to develop to professional levels, while at the same time offering quality cultural programs for the community and our younger generation.

With your ticket, you enable us to pay for rental venues, promotion, technical personnel, audio, lighting, production, musicians, musical arrangements, singers and dancers.  While this is much appreciated, we also invite you to become involved as members, and remind you of the importance of proving to the cultural institutions and our local city government that there is great community interest and active participation in what we do. When you become a member, your contributions of time or donations give recognition and permanence to our effort.

Thank you again and welcome to the Hispanic Heritage Society!

No other organization in South Texas offers these traditional performances each year. Other organizations sponsor and train dancers and mariachi groups, but they limit their instruction to Mexican and Flamenco traditions. The Hispanic Heritage Society teaches a broader repertoire of artistic expression (such as opera, theater and dance) and history of Hispanic countries.

Membership is open to any and all people of all races and ethnicities who are interested in learning the Spanish language and the traditions of Hispanic music and drama through participation in the group and its activities. The group forms the foundation for an annual program of six (6) events which are presented in different parts of the city.

If you are interested in donating your time, talent, or other resources to our organization, or if you are interested in sponsorship or membership, please contact our Artistic Director, Ms. Cristina Ortega, at 210-822-3247, or email
